[Adventure] Bound In Stone

Postby Malkcntent » Tue Jan 26, 2010 3:04 pm

Here's my crack at a DA adventure. Ran it last week with my group and it went well. It's in a similar vein to the Dalish Curse - shorter and a bit less involved, but a good intro adventure. The last encounter proved quite challenging for my group, however the apostate mages never cast spells (not sure why), which made it more difficult. I've listed the ratings the encounters received for my group, though these can obviously vary from group to group.

Comments and feedback are more than welcome.

Looks good. I've only read the overview and the epilogie but I may take this for my group at some stage. Nice work.

Thanks guys, it's my pleasure to post it. Let me know how the adventure goes if you decide to run it - it will be fun to see how other groups tackle the game compared to mine.

This is not only a nice adventure background (the druids) with some well constructed characters but very, very well written. A pleasure to read.

I shall certainly incorporate this into my initial campaign when it gets off the ground in a week or two.

I'm very keen to know where the author takes these ideas next.

Outstanding!

Running this tonight and I echo the sentiment that it is very well written. Looking forward to it but I may change the rage demon to a pride demon or a lust demon as my players have just finished the Dalish Curse and I don't want too much deja vu.

Plus I think the Lust demon wanting to inhabit the girl will fit nicely.

So I ran this last night. It went well but didn't go as well as it could've but that was entirely due to the fact that me and my players were exhausted after training and got an attack of the giggles.

I made a few changes to the adventure as well for my own purposes and to distance a bit more from the Dalish Curse:

- Rather than be attacked by Blight Wolves, the party was attacked by a Black Bear
- Holz ended up being a real douche the way I played him
- Barrett the Mute became a temporary party member because my 3 players nearly got killed in the first encounter (I used Hurlock stats which suited perfectly)
- As I said I changed the Rage Demon to a Desire Demon.
- When the PCs enter the ritual area they find the brigands participating in what quickly is becomming an orgy
- The girl Gedre is strapped to a plinth naked with her brother standing naked above her with nothing but robes

They're the major changes. I played the Desire Demon as leaning more towards Lust obviously. I also did up stats which I can post up if anyone is interested.

I'd just like to say thanks once again. I was in the mood to GM but didn't have time to set up a game and this was a great help. Thanks alot.

Glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like you guys had a good time. The changes you made totally make sense - I'm glad they worked out.

Holze is developing in my campaign as an opportunistic douche as well and is a lot of fun to have as the characters' employer.

Check out the 'Festival of Wolves' thread for my second adventure. That one was a lot of fun to run.

Saisei, I'd really like to get the stats you used, if you don't mind. That'd be great, thank you.

I'm actually looking at that for my main group. They're on their way to Highever as part of the Blackstone Irregulars and they'll have some downtime there. It should fit nicely :)

Ask and you shall receive. I basically just rearranged the stats that Malkcntent set out for his Rage demon and changed them slightly.

You can find it here

The title (and Saisei's thread) gives me the impression that this'll be horribly similar to a WFRP scenario I devised last year (and ran a couple of times at a convention) but if so then it'll be interesting to see how well the idea translates to Dragon Age (especialy if he's gone for the abandoned watch tower, the painting and other stuff I included as well :p).

After a quick look it's very different, but gives me the idea for converting my adventure across too (as all the elements would fit quite nicely).

Please upload your adventure again, perhaps to a free filesharing service like mediafire.

By doing so you get several advantages:
* everybody can download whenever they want, and without having to wait
* noone needs to share their personal details with anybody

Thanks! :)

That was quick - thanks!

At first blush: adventure looks very clean (good formatting, disposition etc), with plenty of care towards helping the newbie GM. A neat simple intro adventure it seems :)

I ran this as my group's first adventure and they liked it a lot. We actually used the merchant several more times throughout the campaign.
