Fantasy Craft Freeport

So, anybody out there done Freeport with Fantasy Craft yet? Just starting to dig into the system myself, but it looks like a good ruleset.

I am running a Freeport game set in Fantasy Craft. I'm running the players through adventures grown from seed in Cults of Freeport and Buccaneers of Freeport, and have some of the NPCs statted out in FC format (generic yellow sign cultists, Vikki Tarjay, Regina Meyer, etc.)

Fantasy Craft already has firearm rules, so for the most part I can run Freeport using FC as-is. The only thing I've really done is barred large creatures other than Fire Brave Ogres (not to conducive to city campaigning), and I am porting over Fragile Minds (sanity/horror rules for Spycraft 2.0.)

The way that FC pays more attention to skills than 3.x/d20 makes for a nice investigative game in Freeport style.

Forgot to mention, I started a little blog (only 2 entries so far) in which I discuss my efforts running Freeport with Fantsy Craft:

Side note: you wrote the Jewel Mage? Cool. I wrote up a fantasy city for my River of Worlds game (which my Freeport is part of) based around the Jewell Mages.

Yeah, I was thinking of picking up Fragile Minds. How hard is the adaptation process?

I've been wondering how many of the FC base races I'd allow. One of the things I dig most about FC is the expansion of the available player races, but fitting dragons and rootwalkers into default Freeport is kind of a stretch. Still, as a crossroads kinda place, having weird critters show up on the Freeport docks expecting to be treated as just another adventurer isn't that hard to picture.

Glad you're still getting use out of the Jewel Mage stuff. I've been thinking about trying to adapt some of the Path of Shades stuff to FC, actually. Did you adapt the Jewel Mage rules stuff to FC, or just use them as backstory for the city?

If you haven't played Spycraft yet, the biggest change is the stress damage system. In SC, you need to accumulate a lot of stress before making a roll, whereas stress rolls are more frequent in Fantasy Craft.

Looking at the stress damage sources in fragile minds, it's apparent that they are made to nickel-and-dime the PCs with stress damage. If you apply these stress events in FC with the same frequency, PCs will stress out much more quickly.

As a result, when porting stress sources, I'm not going to even bother with the lesser stress damage sources.

I also plan to cut down on the rolling. Fragile minds has a full/partial stress damage value for all stress sources. Since all stress causes a save in FC, I plan on dropping the stress save values and just come up with one stress damage figure for each item.

Many of the rules from Fragile minds are already in FC. Other than tweaking stress damage for events, I plan on using the table of sproing and the From Beyond NPC quality.

Glad you're still getting use out of the Jewel Mage stuff. I've been thinking about trying to adapt some of the Path of Shades stuff to FC, actually. Did you adapt the Jewel Mage rules stuff to FC, or just use them as backstory for the city?

It was originally a D&D setting (still is, really). I just figured on using FC for freeport, and maybe more in the future. There's no rules port for that as of yet, but I might consider it if I were to run an adventure in that city again.

In case you missed it, I added a post talking about my Freeport FC PCs:

In other items, would anyone be interested in seeing a Fantasy Craft Freeport Companion? I've considered pitching one to... people I know.
