Favourite Freeport character?

Postby Anemone » Mon Jan 21, 2008 9:20 am

I've decided my favourite is Gitch, the hobgoblin "wizard." [Cue music] The hero of Bloodsalt, the hob they call Gitch... I love the motif of the reluctant hero, mostly profiteer but moved to do something right despite himself.

What about you, what's your favourite Freeport character?

I've always been on the side of the lunatics: I loved roleplaying Milton Drac, now I think that Mendor Maeorgan is my favourite character although there are lots of cool lunatics in Cults of Freeport :green:

I decided that I didn't care for the name 'Drac,' so I changed it to 'Drake' and had the original Sea Lord have been captain of a ship called the Sea Drake, and taken the name of the ship as his own after killing it's previous owner and taking over the Captaincy. Drac's End became Drakes End, and, purportedly, some of the timbers of the original Sea Drake were used to construct some buildings there.

But, to complicate things, I had the NPC refer to himself snootily as Milton Drace (pronounced Drayce), and when the subject of 'Drac's End' came up, he said it was a blight on Freeport in dire need of renovation, and would be properly called Drace End.

Playing 'Drace' up as a pompous creep, snooty and pretentious and oily, made him a more satisfying enemy, I thought.

Neat way of handling things, I like it. Though I confess I do like "Drac" as a name because, like the Tarasque (to which it is related) and the Horla, the Drac is a monster in French legends. It's a familiar but near forgotten bit of myth for me. :yar:

Captain Scarbelly! He has become a sort of recurring Captain Barbossa type character IMC :)
