question about Fatigue

Postby KyleC » Tue Aug 09, 2005 9:26 am

I've been playing Fatigue as an all-or-nothing affair, where if you fail your Fatigue save you gain one level of fatigue (healthy -> winded -> fatigued -> exhausted -> unconscious), regardless of how bad the save was failed. This seems to be how Fatigue is described in the appropriate sections of both the Magic and Playing the Game chapters. But recently I was rereading the uses of Conviction and came across the following:

Cancel Fatigue: Any time you would suffer fatigue[...] you can spend a Conviction point and reduce the amount of fatigue by one level (so you're only winded by a fatigued result, fatigued by an exhausted result, etc).

It's the part in parentheses that make it sound like Fatigue saves should work like Toughness saves, where the amount you fail your save determines the severity of the Fatigue result.

So how do you folks do Fatigue saves in your game?

I do it the same way you do Kyle for using Arcana. However, there are other ways to be fatigued that may produce the higher results in Fatigue and explain the comment in using Conviction.
