Did you read that thing? Roses crossed with bacteria coloured by human liver extract? :o Next they'll be making Biolante! ("Oh, it's just a few G-cells...") >:)

No. I've never even seen the rules. I've always heard good things about it. Sad really, given its the only quality Aussie RPG.

Lace & Steel

Postby Nhoj » Tue Jun 08, 2004 8:05 am

I have Lace & Steel. Social AND physical combat is by playing a card game, instead of dice rolls.

I think I'll definately be picking this up too. I'm also a subscriber to the theory that just as the average RPGer won't be a marauding reaver with 30 years of battleaxe wielding to call on, neither will s/he be a 45 year old courtesan schooled in all the intricacies of courtly politicking.

At any rate, I'd tend to play it by ear, or what the players felt like doing - rolling or role-ing. At the same time I have a marked aversion to spending 30 minutes of real time rolling dice to hack away at bandits - 30 minutes we could spend doing something we enjoyed. So any kind of system which shortens time wasted in combat is good by me.

I'd also have to say the inclusion of Tamora Pierce as one of the mentioned influences piqued my interest even more.

This and the WFRP2nd ed. RPG will keep me buying from GRP I think.

One of my friends who is a huge fan of Pierce et al. just asked me if I'd heard any recent updates about Blue Rose's release, because she's eager to buy it but frustrated over the repeatedly bumped date. (She preordered it from our FLGS back in April.) This was my first chance to check here since she asked, so your reply is nicely timed. :yar: She'll be glad to hear that the forecast is still Nov.

The friend I mentioned has been like that since April, when she first heard of it, and it was still listed as a May release... Here's hoping she can get her copy in time for her Dec. birthday.

My wife wants it, too, but she won't have free time to read it until late Nov. anyway. I plan to get her a copy for birthday (late Nov.) or Xmas, whichever one works out.

If you can wait until Monday, we'll have a big Blue Rose announcement, and a lot more information and other cool stuff will be available.

Thanks, Evan! I've passed word onto friends who are eager to see Blue Rose but who don't read the boards here.

Well, the Green Ronin website says the core book is done and will go to print "shortly".

So does anyone know of any ship-to-distributors estimate?

Got the PDF. At first skim, it looks very cool. This will probably become my default fantasy system.

I'm still waiting for the print version at the FLGS. If I wait too much longer, I'll get it from the online store.

Does the FLGS know you're waiting for them to get it? Because it's available and there shouldn't be any reason they (or you) have to wait for product at this point!
