Norfolk VA Question

Postby Novac » Mon Jul 28, 2003 4:39 am

At the start of next year I am moving to Norfolk VA. I was wondering, what's the gaming weather like up there. Any locals about to tell me where the good shops are and were to find GM/Players?

I lived in Newport News, about 20 minutes north of Norfolk, last summer. I found a place called "Worlds Best Comics", and there where probably 5 active gaming groups that played there.

Hope that helps.

It helps a lot man, thanks. I have no idea of the geography up there, but gives me a good direction to start.

Hey Novac, didn't you know Hampton Roads was the offical HQ of the Legion! Nah, seriously though. World's Best Comics is great. I've actually played Warhammer there (got my arse kicked too). My gaming group has been together a long time. We all grew up right across the NC border. Anyway everybody but me lives in Virginia now.

It's really a pretty huge city when you count all of the outlying areas. You've got Norfolk at the center, Portsmouth right through the tunnel. Highways lead through the sprawl to Newport News, Virginia Beach, Hampton, and beyond. It's really pretty nice. Lots of big malls, restaurants, game stores come and go, but I definately like the plug for World's Best.

If you follow the signs down toward North Carolina, you'll ride right by my house. I live on the road to the Outer Banks a trip taken by thousands of tourists in the summer. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
