Lucinda Ruiz remembers a song from the 80's. Something about having your own 'Personal Jesus'. That was the first thought that occured to her when the power came. She was sitting in a cozy cafe in the Theatre District, listening to some guy doing that William Shatner style of rap. She was thinking, that man needs an epiffiany. He needs something to make him real, give him some inspired talent and not this drivel.
That was when she felt the bond. Something from beyond mortality, yet of man, flowed through her and into the hapless musician. In that moment she knew, within the hour; he would be judged. And it was her doing. She'd brought about his own personal apocalypse.
A year later she saw him, at a church in New Orleans. He'd lost and arm in the accident, he'd given up everything he knew to become a pastor in a poor gang ridden community. When they met, he looked up and smiled; unsure why, but sensing she was not truly of this world.

Lucinda has the uncanny, possibly divinely driven ability to bring each soul she encounters to the brink of their karmic existance. She can trigger than moment in all of their lives that will be the focal point that defines who and what they are. That momenbt of crisis in which whatever the gods are judges them.

She hasn't taken up a costume, nor begun running aound the streets using her abilities on all she sees. But she has begun a subtle quest to find those in need of direction, and trigger them. Sidetrek was once known as Ruben Stoddard. He was an excellent runner in high school and while always thought he was part of the crowd, he was always - just there.

There was always someone else who took his place. Graduating high school and getting into track at college the same thing happened. He was just there no matter how good he was.

So one night he decided to make a name for himself. He went to a bank with a friend. He was going to make sure that SOMEONE knew who he was. He robbed the bank and got clean away. His friend however was caught and didnt rat his friend out.

The next day in school, everyone was talking about his friend and not poor Ruben. He was still just their sidekick.

Jim Munford had a mind that wandered. He never saw the logical point from A to B, but always seemed to tackle a problem by going from A to G to F and finally to B (or some variation thereof). His professors at Doubledome University noticed this (and his habit of wandering off to pursue whatever caught his fancy) and enrolled him in the Science department. There he gained a reputation as the most brilliant mind in the then-emerging science of Obtuse Physics. His knack of seeing a different way to solve things earned him accolades.

One night, as he was passing through the chemistry department,his mind on a particularly vexing formula for fourth dimensional energy, He got caught up in an explosion that resulted from a couple of chem students mixing a few prohibited serums. The blast knocked him through the wall of the chem lab into the physics lab.

Well, not exactly through it, more like he phased through it. After astint in hospital, Jim found out he could not only see around a problem, he could move through dimensional space. Not only that, but he found out he had some sort of "danger sense" that allowed him to dodge things. Somehow the chemicals in the explosion permeated his brain, giving him the ability to go sideways, through ther 4th dimension and out again.

Dubbing himself Sidetrek, he donned a costume consisting of a black and white spandex suit and goggles. He petitioned for admittance to the super group the Bulletheads and has become not only one of the most versitle members of the group, but a great help tqctically, as he still retiains his obtuse mental abilities.

Sonya and the Big G.A.L.O.O.T

Sonya Borhees was bored with studious lifestyle offered her by her weathly, brilliant parents. Daniel and Stephana Borhees had met at M.I.T. after a bitter rivalry in an invention contest had led to the two of them spending enough shared interactions to discover a mutual attraction. The rest of course is history. Sonya was born just twenty short years ago.

As Sonya grew she showed a comprable intellect to either of her parents, and NONE of their patience. Sonya became a center of hazardous and chaotic experimentation often times expanding her parents discoveries to ludricous and world-threatening potentials.

After years of such behaviors the Borhees decided they needed to occupy their daughter with a conundrum so difficult that she would be manageable through her mid to late teens. They decided to challenge her to create a functioning model of a theoretic concept - a tesseract. The offered her a huge research fund, and top-of-the-line labs (they had billions from patents of older devices). Having long since KLEP'd college she had nothing better to do.

Little did they know that Sonya would succeed.

And then some.

A few days short of her 19th birthday, the Big G.A.L.O.O.T. (Graviton Accelerated Levitating Offense and Observational Tesseract) was completed, so what if its initial activation caused a brown-out? Sonya soon found that her parents challenge provided her with the ultimate super-science hangout - An Invisible, Floating Spy Camera with an Interior Citadel holding firepower that could level the defenses of a small nation.

Using the G.A.L.O.O.T. to invisibly spy and influence the town around her Sonya eventially grew to be protective and somewhat parental of the citizens of her city. Recently the G.A.L.O.O.T. was given an A.I. named "Mr. Big" allowing her to remotely control and pilot the tesseract even when absent.

The American Way

Jasper Higgins was born in the San Fransisco area during the height of flower power. His parents, political activists and pharmaceutical explorers, noticed that little Jasper had a gift for getting his way. He did well in competitions at fast food chains, always had friends who were willing to take the rap for any mistake that Japser made and was able to bounce back from nearly any setback.

Jasper went on to follow in his parents footsteps and became a chemical expert with a large pharmacuetical company. While working in the lab late one night, he overheard a conversation between managerial staff about a decision to release an unsafe drug that could lead to the crippling of thousands. Determined to stop it, but unwilling to risk his job, he created a disguise from an old American Flag protest outfit of his dads and started a campaign of destruction against his company's delivery vehicles.

After a short period, his actions forced the authorities to become involved, and the horrible plot was discovered. The executives were arrested and Jaspar could return to his old life. However, Jaspar found he liked the fun and excitement of vigilante life and decided to stay on as the scourge of the corporate world. For Jaspar had decided that every company that would harm or hurt the humble citizen deserves to be shown that they are not above the law and that they will answer to ..........

Felicia Winchell didn't have a bright future. She was born and raised in the worst neighborhood of the city, living in a dilapidated tenement with an apathetic mother and abusive step-father. By the time she reached high school, Felicia seemed destined to never rise above her surroundings -- she was doing poorly in school, was drinking and doing narcotics regularly, and was starting to get involved with gangs and other criminals.

Her life took a major turn one week before her graduation from high school. A running battle between two rampaging supervillains spiraled through her run-down neighborhood. Just as she was coming home from school, the villains smashed through her building, collapsing it. Felicia saw what little in this world that mattered to her fall into ruin around her. Her anger became palpable as she watched the two supervillains continue their battle, oblivious to the destruction they caused. Felicia attempted to follow them, but was struck with an energy ray from one of the supervillains.

Surprisingly, the energy did not destroy her, though she was knocked unconscious and thrown back into the rubble of her old building. She came to a few minutes later, as one of the city's local heroes tried to revive her. Although the heroes of the city had seldom paid much attention to her neighborhood, now one of them had come, and had taken the time to stop and see to Felicia's health.

Felicia was fine, however -- or more so. The supervillain's energy ray had awoken some latent power in her and she now found herself possessing similar abilities. Using her new-found talents, she and the other hero quickly captured the two rampaging supervillains.

Felicia has decided to become a hero. Although she has had little respect for the establishment and those on the right side of the law in the past due to their treatment of her home, she now feels that someone needs to champion her neighbors and clean up the neighborhood. She has decided that it will ber her. Now graduated from high school, Felicia enrolled at the local junior college, and is seeking a criminal justice degree. In her off hours, she patrols her neighborhood as the new hero, PowerShot. Although she can empathize with many of the poverty-stricken criminals-by-necessity of her community, she has no tolerance for the drug dealers and organized crime syndicates that she sees as being responsible for much of her neighborhood's ills. However, she also has no respect for the corrupt police and politicians that let her people languish in poverty.

PowerShot can fire bolts of electrical energy. She can fire these bolts incredibly rapidly and accurately, and has even learned to bounce them off metal objects in order to strike opponents from unexpected directions. She can also fly, project a protective electrical field around her body, and has reflexes beyond that of a normal human.

She wears a dark blue-and-black bodysuit that completely covers her body and face. When her electrical field is active, she crackles and shines with bluish sparks.

Erik Winnekowsky was a weird kid. A nerd, so to speak. He was great at every single class, but he excelled with computers. That didn't stop the bullies from picking on him, though.

He was cornered one day on the computer class. As the three bullies were about to beat him up, something strange happened. Tendrils of his flesh crawled into the computers. Erik noticed he had "plugged" his body to the computer circuits. He pulled out a "Pixel Armor" and proceeded to beat the crap out of the bullies.

Now, Erik can plug into anything with circuits with his flesh. He can hack into computers easily, and he can create any software he wants while plugged. He just has to think it.

That much power has gone to his head, and Erik, or Bio-Circuit, as he calls himself now, is planning on taking over the world. His plans? Hack into the world defense systems and take control of the nuclear weapons.

Albert Bonsworth was a normal guy.
Very normal.
He had a normal house, on a normal street, in a normal city.
He ate normal meals; shopped at normal stores, and purchased normal things.
He had a Normal job, and a lot of normal days.
Then he found a normal hobby, antique collecting!

This was a doorway to hidden normal joys he never new existed! What splendor and wonder it did hide! However much love he found with this new found obsession, he still had a normal attention span, with normal dedication. So he continued collecting in his normal city looking for items that fit his budget and were not so .. Normal.

Then, when frustration was about once more to give way to stagnation, he stumbled upon an old curio shop in the very hart of the China Town district. The shop was run by an old blind Chinese man with a long gray beard and a rich accent so think Albert could not comprehend a thing he said. As he looked through the mystic antiquities.. Most of it junk, he found a jade kabuki mask without a price tag. Its craftsmanship was beautiful, he tried to enquire as to such a wondrous objects price to the shop owner, but all he could make out was a harsh old laugh and the impression the man was GIVING the mask to him!

Al bert rushed back to his home to find a proper place to show such a treasure! Surly, when his normal friends came over for their normal Thursday night poker game, this would make him stand out! He turned on his stereo and checked his mail, cleaned the place up a bit, and then turned his attention back to the jade kabuki mask. In a bit of whimsy, he placed the mask on his face..

The following events were far from normal.

The mask blended to his body, his features and body changing to that of a young beautiful Japanese girl with Kabuki paint!

Freaking out would be an understatement. In his flailing around, bolts of pure sound lanced out, one of them destroyed his stereo, and the transformation reversed. But the mask was gone.

Now, every time he hears music, he becomes this Kabuki Girl, this spiraling woman who dances into combat, and saves the innocents of this normal city. They Call her “The Dancing Queen!”

And poor Albert Bonsworth was never a normal guy ever again.

Rei Nakagami was the traditional Japanese young woman, from a traditional Japanese family. She was wellmannered and dedicated to the household, but also was well educated and cultured, as her father looked towards the future for his children.
Then after years of home schooling and domestication, she was sent off to a fine university to get a degree in technological sciences. Her family wished for her to be a scientist, the first in their very old fashioned clan. It was in college that she finally came out of her shell and really lived, with the help of friends not like any back in the old province. Living in Tokyo was a great change for her and it was the perfect outlet for her newfound freedom.
Rei and friends were out clubbing in Shinjiku when they got lost in the slums. She watched as two of her friends were beat up by a group of drunken young men, all of them helpless to do anything untill some police officers arrived.
It was then that Rei realized that she could no longer just be the perfect Japanese wife, or even the perfect daughter by becoming a great scientist like her parents wanted. She had to become a paragon, someone to teach women to defend themselves and inspire those who didnt have as supportive families as hers.
Devoting many years as a student and then assistant researcher at the university, Rei managed used "borrowed" funding and any money she could make to fund a special project. Within 4 years she created the R-0 suit and took up the role of Rocket Zero, the flying technogirl, while maintaining her secret identity as Rei Nakagami, assistant researcher.
Rocket Zero can fly incredibly fast in the air, and even fly into space, as well as fire experimental energy bolts from her gauntlets.

Some say that Maximum Sentence doesn't exist. That it is just an urban legend. Others aren't so sure. Assistant D.A. Jessica Blonde is one of those latter folk. You see, she's encountered Maximum Sentence on three separate occurances. All of them over the computer.

After helplessly watching a crimelord go free, Jessica returned to her office to find a business card on her desk. It was plain white cardstock with basic black lettering. "www.abetterplace.com" was all that was printed.

Curious, Jessica went home and logged on to the site. Her computer went blank and "Do you want the world to be a better place?" came across her screen with a choice of Yes or No buttons.

Still curious Jessica clicked 'yes'. "Computer upgrades in progress, please stand by..." flashed across her screen. Her hard drive worked like mad. Five minutes later, Jessica screen went black and then brought up the Maximum Sentence homepage.

Jessica was prompted to enter the name of the Criminal that escaped sentenceing. She enter the crimelord that had walked free earlier that day. The computer thanked her and then shut itself off.

The next day on Jessica's desk was the evidence needed to convict the crimelord and make sure that he received the maximum sentence. Since Jessica joined Maximum Sentence she has helped to bring down two other major crimelords.

Althought Jessica has no idea just who is Maximum Sentence, she trusts them and is eager to help their mission of making the world a better place.




Maxiumum Sentence is a team that is willing to do what it takes to prevent the guilty from abusing the laws to go free. They are a group of Lawyers, Politicians, Hackers, Police Officers and Private Investigators all dedicated to bringing criminals to justice. Most members have no idea who else is on the team. Only the webmaster "NoLongerBlind" knows for sure.

Thought I'd try my hand at this...

Maximum Sentence

Roger Daltry was a simple kid, leading a simple life in his hometown in Armadillo, Florida.

He went to school with his fellow colleagues and went home right after to do his chores at his parent's. He was the perfect son in all aspects, helping his mom do the dishes and his pa do the lawn.

Until a Colombian drug cartel mistakenly killed his parents, his dog and his pet parrot in a run-drive shooting, right in front of him, taking them for notorious gang leader Big Max "Five Fingers" Maddox, who lived only a few blocks away. Only he escaped with his life intact, if not his sanity.

The very same day he joined the US Marine Corps, training from a tender age to be the perfect killing machine, in order to kill the murdering Brazilian bastards that had killed his family.

While at the army he made many friends, ones that would later dictate his future life as a crime-fighter: General Stewart Copeland (General Hazard), Corporal Andy Summers (Corporal Punishment) and Private Gordon Sumner (Sting).

15 years later and much rigorous trainning behind him, and now an asset of the US government, he went on a solo mission on the jungles of Peru, to single-handedly dismantle a drug cartel that was selling drugs to the poor ragged kids in the Appalachians.

fate would dictate that on that very same jungle he would find the murding bastard that had ordered the killing of his parents, Benicio "Thick Brow" Del Toro.

He entered Thick Brow's camp with nothing left to loose, his destiny fulfilled, firing his rocket launcher left and right, shooting grenades at this and that target, and generally provoking much mayhem, destruction, and disconfort.

Amazingly, he survived, after kiling 364.635.168 people, including bought mercenaries, employed cooks and a rabbit. Thick Brow, unfortunately, had escaped.

He went back to good ol' America to hunt for his nemesis. Soon he found out he had established himself 5 years ago in his own home town of Brambilla, Colorado, selling drugs to the poor ragged children of the Appalachians.

Now vengeance would be his.

He stormed Thick Brows inner sanctum and killed everyone inside, this time killing Thick Brows as well, after a prolonged 6 hours fire-fight.

He returned to New York only to find out his little escapede had not go unnoticed, and the Government had fired him. So he went solo, to continue a personal vendetta against all drug dealers and red fish molestors, this time taking a black and purple costume with him, ready to fight organized crime as Maximum Sentence.

Apart from a bad mood and a murdering rage against everything Brazilian related, his only weapons are the ones he took from the US arsenal when he left.

Crimson

Jake Foley loved movies. No, actually he looooooved movies. From the time he was old enough, his father, a projectionist in a revival theatre in his home town of Palo Alto, used to take him with him to work when he wasn't in school. If he wasn't at the theatre he was watching classic films of yesteryear, either rentals or on TCM. He really enjoyed the old swashbucklers like "Captian Blood" or "The Adventures of Robin Hood." Errol Flynn became his idol.

During a late night working on a chemical experiment for his masters at the Stanford lab, he heard a noise. The next thing he knew, he blacked out.

He woke up, sputtering, in a large vat of chemicals. It seems that the lab was a target for a group of thugs working for the corporation Bio-Tech, there to ransack the office of Jake's mentor, Professor Cito, leading genetic scientist. They knocked poor Jake out and dumped him in a chemical bath that Dr. Cito had concocted to test genetic material related to a metallurgical theory he had.

As Jake got out, he noticed his body was covered with what looked like mercury. He showered and headed to the hospital, worried about poisoning. They checked him, gave him a clean bill of health and released him.

What he didn't know was that the chemical seeped into his body, bonding with him. It gave him control over his body to an extent that he can make it as hard as steel and form melee weapons out of his extremeties with a thought. He slao found out that the steel in his body stengthened him and, for some reason, gave him incredible dexterity, agility and accuracy.

Approaching the super team F.I.S.T., he asked for their help in tracking down the crooks and stopping Bio-Tech. The result was jail time for the CEO and an offer from F.I.S.T. to join their ranks. For someone who loved action, this was a dream-come-true. Now Crimson, as he calls himself, fights crime and has bigger adventures than he ever saw in the movies!

Thomas Arcane

Thomas Arcane was the result of a whirlwind love affair between Dr. Thomas Thurman, a brilliant inventor and scientist, and Agnes Arcane, one of the world’s most powerful sorceresses. Needless to say after a passionate fling the two realized that they had nothing in common and separated amicably. Nine months later Thomas Arcane was born. (Agnes followed Wicca tradition and passed her family name to the child.)

Mr Gugliano has owned the corner barbershop since dinosaurs roamed the earth. You can always see him sitting quietly at the chair, waiting for his customers. Mind you, since he found that sentient straight razor in the mysterious shop that just APPEARED beside his place one day, he doesn't need to work much. He doesn't even need to talk to his customers, just sit in the corner and read his paper. The Razor takes care of the rest.

The Razor is quite popular for his cutting wit and keen intelligence (groan). He has a strong sense of injustice, and will often help fight off petty thieves and muggers.
