I'm sure this has been asked before, but I wasn't able to find a useful thread about it.
How does the 2D6 damage for a helpless victim actually get applied? Is this instead of the normal 1D6? If so, do you gain just as much mana? Or is it part of the Minor Action required prior to casting, making it totally separate from the blood-to-mana equation, resulting in a total of 3D6 penetrating damage on the victim?
The way it's worded, I'd lean toward it being a replacement for the initial 1D6, logically resulting in more mana. But then why couldn't you just get 2D6 mana out of your own blood or a willing ally's blood? That makes me think it's actually separate damage completely, resulting from the opposed test required to use an unwilling victim.
