Hi,

I heard a rumour that Green Ronin is going to be working on something called an Interlock product. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Cheers.

Hi Dale!

Sorry we had to keep mum on this topic until now. Here's the announcement you've been waiting for!

Miami, FL and Seattle, WA -

Green Ronin Publishing and Paradigm Concepts are proud to announce OGL Interlock, a series of related sourcebooks for d20 System. Initially, these books will come from Paradigm's Races of Legend series and Green Ronin's Races of Renown series.

"Both companies decided to do a series of race books at the same time, so rather than go head to head we agreed to work together to cover more ground," says Chris Pramas, Green Ronin's founder. "Now Paradigm is doing a giant book to complement our dwarf book and we're doing an orc book to complement their elf book. All the books will bear the OGL Interlock logo."

To reinforce the connection between OGL Interlock titles, each pair of books will feature covers painted by the same artist. When the two books are placed side by side, a larger tableau will be created. Featured artists include Jim Pavelec, Mark Evans, and Todd Lockwood.

"Interlock is Open Gaming taken to the next level," says Eric Wiener, Paradigm Concepts' Chief Financial Officer. "This represents an unprecedented level of cooperation between D20 publishers. We can only hope that other companies recognize the virtues of cooperation as a vehicle to grow the D20 market."

OGL Interlock kicks off in July, with Green Ronin's Hammer and Helm: A Guidebook to Dwarves. Paradigm follows with The Lords of the Peaks: The Essential Guide to Giants in August.

Yes, but it's a 2003 release. There are two other Races of Renown books before it and after Hammer & Helm.

Cool, got the gnome book planned yet?

I was just making sure that the Interlock products wouldn't be *instead* of your own product.

Quick Query: How will this affect the books for the same races? Will their elf book and your elf book be linked somewhat, since they're both linked to other books maybe..or something?

Thanks

That's a good question. Wouldn't want to have multiple varieites of the same class. Maybe the focus will be a little different in each? One company focuses on arcane and archery while another on divine and swordscraft? One on Grey, Wild, and High, the other on Dark, Wood, and Half.

For Immediate Release

Now OGL Interlink

June 17, 2002--Miami, FL, and Seattle, WA: Green Ronin and Paradigm Concepts are changing their new brand name to OGL Interlink to avoid confusion with aspiring d20 publisher Interlock Games. After Green Ronin Publishing and Paradigm Concepts, Inc. mutually announced OGL Interlock, both companies received notice from the principal of Interlock Games. Even though trademark attorneys were and still are unable to locate any trademark registration for Interlock Games, the companies have decided to alter their brand from OGL Interlock to OGL Interlink.

"OGL Interlink is an idea based upon cooperation," said Henry Lopez,
President of Paradigm Concepts, Inc. "Creating unnecessary conflict with others is counterproductive and contrary to the spirit of the OGL Interlink vision."

"OGL is an important part of the designation" added Green Ronin founder Chris Pramas, "and we've already seen people dropping that out in the wake of the OGL Interlock announcement. Making the change to OGL Interlink now will prevent confusion later, and is in the best spirit of the Open Gaming Movement."

This change in no way affects the plans or schedule of the OGL Interlink
products. The first of these, Hammer & Helm: A Guidebook to Dwarves from Green Ronin, is at print now and debuts at the Origins game convention in July. This is to be followed in August by its companion volume, The Lords of the Peaks: The Essential Guide to Giants from Paradigm Concepts.

OGL Interlink is a Trademark of Green Ronin Publishing and Paradigm
Concepts, Inc.
