This is a masterpiece! So much better as the art on the cover of set 2...

Yeah, one's getting love on the end of a lance. :)
I've liked all the cover art so far but this is my favourite.

I'm wondering if the cove gives some clues to what we can expect. e.g. mounted combat rules

Amazing cover. It's like "MAKE WAY, THE PLAYERS ARE HERE!"

Haha, I get that's what you call "tough love". :P

Well, there were mounted combat rules in Set 1 - but I take it you're referring to stuff like jousting/lance charges?

What about stats for war horses? Griffins would be nice, too.

I thought griffins were supposed be extinct in modern Thedas? Unless you are planning a "historical" campaign?

I'll play devil's advocate for this one. So far, canon states that griffins are extinct...but then again according to canon dragon's were thought to be extinct until the Dragon Age started some 30 years ago. So griffins may be extinct in the same sense that DC comics kills the Joker...meaning mostly dead. I'd also point out that if they aren't including horseback riding in the CRPG...then I doubt they would want to tackle griffin riding any time soon.

Personally, I would like to see the stats for griffins...but not at the expense of anything more pressing for Set 3.

Ya know...it strikes me as griffins would make a great one or two page pdf supplement...give the info from a historical perspective...maybe as excerpted from a Grey Warden tome written by a griffin handler. I shudder to reference D&D...but something similar to TSR's "Ecology of" series in the old Dragon Magazine.

While I do like the cover... am I the only one who thinks: "Lord of the Rings - Two Towers"?

Now that you mention it, no you're not!

And seriously.... war horses! They have riding horses and mules. What about a flipping war horse!? (Unless of course they're already included in some random part that I've missed, and then it's just a test)

And I would seriously love some compilation. Trick shot rules in an adventure? How about in the regular rules? Poison making equipment buried in a paragraph in the poison section? How about in the equipment table? I know I've mentioned it before, but seriously.

And how about a table of contents? (emphasis is mine)

That said War Horses would realy just be a riding horse with a Elite Template on it too, so it's kind of covered, even though they tended to be tougher breeds than typical riding horses.

The simplest solution would be to drop the non-combatant rule for horses so they can strike with their strength. They'd be getting +4 to their attacks then, perhaps 6 if they have a focus which they might given their violent training.

Cool cover, it invoked LOTR to me immediately!

As for Set 3, I REALY hope the designers paid attention to what we (DARPG GMs) asked for, and included (for me) important campaign background information on all the other nations, their governments, NPCs, mayor factions, militaries and above all on all the things needed to run a pirate/merchant/trading focused game. :)

Personally I'd love to see that as its something that's most often overlooked for any PnP RPG. However, IMO to have a game do those setting elements justice it needs to provide rules for seafaring; i.e. nautical travel, chases and ship -to- ship combat , even if those are fairly abstract. In a nutshell; those elements shouldn't be left up to GM narrative. And of course, you also need details on nautical craft. Considering GR never produced such conent for True20, which was an open/toolbox RPG, I doubt we'll see that in a core DARPG book. In a supplemental PDF or KQ article - maybe.

Can we get rules on satellite to ground bombardment? Also tunnelling rules for dwarves who are inebriated.

We're waiting for the playtest document to be released before the end of January.

My money would be on an August release for Set 3, in time for Gen Con.

The Satellite automatically hits an area of X yards in radius. Anything in that area needs to make a Dexterity (Acrobatics) test versus 15. Anyone who makes it is thrown 1d6 yards away from the impact area and takes 3d6 penetrating damage. Anyone who doesn't make it dies. Period. :P

That's it. My next character is a dwarf who is a recovering alcoholic. But he's going to be one of those really aggressive ones.
