HERO to MnM: A Paying Gig

Postby SmokestackJones » Sun Aug 10, 2003 11:15 pm

Hey there,

found this on the Superhumans, Inc. Yahoo! Group (
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/superhumansinc/message/464). It's from Gold Rush Games:

We are looking for someone able and willing to do character
conversions from HERO System write-ups to Mutants & Masterminds (d20
variant). This is a paying gig, with a deadline of the end of the
month. Most of the characters are in "Character Brief" form (i.e., a
few of them are in full write-up format but most are in short,
paragraph format). If you are interested, please contact me OFF list
at mark@g... with a list of published credits (if any),
a description of your experience with both systems, and a converted
character from any of the three San Angelo books.

Feel free to forward this to any lists or individuals that you feel
are appropriate. Mark Arsenault President,
Gold Rush Games
POD Publishing and Distribution (Contact
info@goldrushgames.com for information) Director of
Communication, Game Publishers Assoc.

Nice to see that HERO (well, GRG, anyway) and SAS is letting GR/SU to come to the party. Amazing what an ENnie Award will do isn't it? :green:

Why wouldn't Guardians of Order let them come out and play? In SAS there's a Villain named Green Ronin that is (as has been admitted) a tribute to the publisher. In ToC The Mad Maple (as has been admitted) is a tribute to one of the Guardiansof Order people. By far the two companies are the best in the business (IMNSHO), even though I have been following Guradrians of Order longer, Green Ronin has gotten me as a solid patron since I first picked up Mutants & Masterminds.

Hey Novac,

Okay, ain't the first time I've been wrong. It's a gut reaction, after seeing that "HERO vs. SAS Battle" site, that the D20 community was not taking M&M seriously as a "contenda".

Hey, no worries man. GoO and Hero did a lot of spoof adds 'slamming' each other. It was all a lead up to a new joint venture between the two.

Not really ... Hero, V&V and Superworld did a few cross-over modules back in the 80s, as well as printing conversion stats in some of their modules. There were even official rules in an Adventurer's Club that allowed conversion from DC Heroes and Marvel Super Heroes to Champions IIRC :)

Hey Sketch,

Ah, yes, I remember. I still have my copy of "Bad Medicine for Dr. Drugs" and (my favorite) "Trouble for HAVOC." I loved using the villians from the HAVOC book in my Champions games. Really kept the PC's on their toes.

Hmmm...maybe M&M conversions are in order. Heh heh heh...
