Neo's Marvel Conversions (updated 7/31/03)

Postby Neo » Sat Jan 25, 2003 5:23 pm

Hiya folks

A PDF of Venom has just gone up on my site (PL15) it is also available in Publisher with a colour picture to anyone who asks :)

Over on the Supers page of my site like usual (URL in the sig below)

Oh and just so I don't have to explain 50 times <lol> all bonuses that apply from powers have been applied, all stat bonuses to skills that apply have been applied and the extra power ranks from Growth to the other relevant powers have been taken into account also.. so basically all the working out is done for you.

NOTE: Just corrected an oversight, although maximum damage is 22L for Venom due to his power level he has to miss out on three points of it, so he only has 19L atm. The PDf has been updated to reflect this.

PDf of Apocalypse has just gone up on the site (PL 25) the horsemen to follow (will all be PL 10)....though the horsemen will be picturelss unless anyone knows where I can find any for them?

http://www.neo-innovation.com/Supers_Files/mm_apocalypse.pdf

As with Venom all bonuses that apply all the time have been applied, however in the case of his growth/Shrinking abilities and the Super Strength and Protection bonuses from them varying bonuses for these are not applied and need to be applied by the GM as and when necessary.

I want to add pictures to everything I convert, and in the vast majority of instances I am able to, however I hunted high and low for a decent picture of the Horsemen and couldn't find any :( If anyone knows where one can be found of each of them I'll gladly update thier PDF though.

A lot of the mook types as they have been termed tend to have poor or no pictures or just head shots.

A couple of suggestions on Sabretooth:

He should have Regeneration (lower PL than wolverine certainly, but still....).
He should also have the Beserker weakness (which would let you add Regenerate at PL5).

Hiya

I did consider giving him Regen, but i decided when I started to keep the conversions true to thier characters as per the information I have and know (namely all the old Tsr Marvel RPG handbooks, all the character bios online and my many years of reading and collecting marvel titles), so people may not always agree with every facet of the conversion I do, but they are done as accurately as I perceive them, which is at the end of the day just one opinion. If anyone spots any obvious errors or mistakes though pelase let me know.

As for Sabretooth he was converted based on his marvel handbook writeup and powers, which states he has maximum human healing ability, not regenerative abilities. So I gave him rapid healing feat to reflect that along with his maximum human constiution, but no regeneration as he doesn't have it.

Berserker weakness I also considered, but again Creed doesn't go berserk he is just naturally aggressive and predatory thanks to his bestial nature. His aggression isn't something he's driven too, it's something he is, all the time.

Odd, every RPG writeup I've seen for ol' Creed list him as having regeneration... ah, well.

Fun Factoid: Sabretooth does have a weakness, of a sort -- he's colorblind.

The original TSR Marvel Handbooks for the Marvel RPG do not list him as having Regeneration and none of the storylines I've read with him in have ever shown him healing like Wolverine to my knowledge. He's tough as old boots and hard to hurt but thats as far as it goes as far as I am aware.

I gave Sabretooth Darkvision, which is black and white only to represent his lack of colour vision, though probably should state more clearly that it is his sole means of seeing, I'll update his PDF.

I don't know if the novels are 'Cannon' but I recently read Codename: Wolverine, and in there he definately had regeneration. You're probably right about the 'Beserker', though Disturbing might work...he's an Obvious sociopath, loves killing, and doesn't try to hide it...

Oh he's definitely disturbed :D I think the deadpool "weapon X" story recently portrayed that well..creed is one seriously sick puppy.

In the X-Men Roster Book (for the Marvel Super Heroes Advanture Game; the SAGA card-based one), Sabretooth is listed as having Regeneration, at a levle equal to Wolverine's (who at the time of publication had no Adamantium fused to his bones, so his Regeneration was actually better than usual, since his body wasn't fighting off Adamantium blood poisoning like it usually does). Then again, the same book does not list Sinister as having Regeneration, which he has been shown to have numerous times...

Anywho, I'm still waitin' to see a write-up for Kang, Magneto, Mr. Sinister, and Dr. Doom (who, along with Apocalypse, are my 5 face Marvel villains) :D

Well as I say Sabretooth isn't listed as having Regen in anythign I have or have read, but then to be fair most of this published stuff I have on the Marvel guys was only accurate upto the time of the comics at thier printing, and the comics also often tend to mention something in one but then not mention it in others where the same character appears..so Sabretooth could well have had regenration "fleshed out" so to speak since then. So I'll add Regeneration to Sabretooth and update the PDF :)

Kang, Magneto, Mr Sinister, Doom etc.. are all in the pile of selected heroes and Villains I pulled from my handbooks to be converted along with a bunch of others both minor and major :)
