One of the things I liked in GOO D20 combat system was that unlike most RPGs where combat works something like this..
I roll D20 you Defense is a 15 anything over 15 I hit you...
The GOO system worked more like this....
My attack is +5
My Defense is +3
They both roll -
Attacker rolls a 11 +5
Defender rolls a 14 +3
Defender did not get hit. I like this because...well lets face it no one stands there and lets you hit them. The roll represented the Defender trying to dodge that attack.
can someone break down a combat round so that I might see how it works in this game.
