Your best bet would be to find a local gaming group on Yahoo Groups (http://www.groups.yahoo.com) or Google.

Type in "RPG" or "Gaming" and the name of the largest metropolitan city in your area. Then click search.

Posts about "GMs seeking players" and "players seeking games" are a regular part of the traffic, but the list also discusses other issues related to gaming as well. These lists get very high-traffic easily if not strictly limited to game locator posts.
