Mutants & Masterminds to be OGL-Only

Yep--the whispered rumors and wild speculation can now come to an end: Mutants & Masterminds is being released as an OGL-only RPG, not a d20 System game. What does this mean for you? We can make it a complete and total game system, including character generation and much, much more, and thanks to the Open Gaming License, other publishers can make use of all sorts of crunchy rules goodness. Win-win, baby!

Freedom City cover mockupBig Ol' Product Catalog Update

Sorry we haven't updated the site in a little while--but just check out all the cool stuff we've been working on:

December 2002...

Along with Denizens of Freeport this December, we've got our first support product for our Mutants & Masterminds RPG. Freedom City by Steve Kenson provides a complete and detailed city setting for four-color superhero adventures.

Skull & Bones cover mockupJanuary 2003...

Never content to rest on our laurels, in the next few months we're releasing not just one RPG (Mutants & Masterminds), not merely two RPGs (Spaceship Zero), but three RPGs! Skull & Bones is the d20 System Roleplaying Game of Swashbuckling Horror in the Golden Age.

Pirates prey upon Spanish Galleons, adventurers search for buried treasure, and the dead walk the streets of Port-au-Prince--this is the world of Skull & Bones. Designed by Adamant Entertainment, Skull & Bones is a superbly researched RPG that brings the history and legends of the Golden Age of Piracy to life.

Avatar's Handbook cover mockupThe Avatar's Handbook is our next release in our Master Class line of d20 System sourcebooks, following Shaman's Handbook, Assassin's Handbook, and this October's Witch's Handbook. Avatars are divine servants of the Lords of Good that can summon celestials to aid them. Powerful avatars can even transform into celestials in combat, channeling divine energy directly from the Heavenly Host.

SSZ to Blast Off in November

Due to some last minute production issues, we've decided to delay Spaceship Zero until November. Several different problems cropped up, none of which alone would have delayed the game, but taken together they couldn't be ignored. We figured that the game has been delayed long enough that we really ought to get it right. As it happened, the time it would take to fix SSZ pushed it into October. Since we are launching Mutants & Masterminds in October, we didn't feel it would be fair to either game to have them come out the same month. Hence, November is the revised (for the last time--no, really!) blast off date for SSZ. The rest of our release schedule remains unchanged. Thanks for your patience!

We've just posted an update to Tree of Life, the free online support site for our latest d20 System Arcana Sourcebook, The Book of the Righteous. From Book of the Righteous author Aaron Loeb you can read about The Lodges of Baal, church of the worshippers of the lord of the first circle of hell. We also have for you a piece from Joe G. Kushner, which helps position the Unspeakable One from our Freeport series within the mythology of Book of the Righteous.
