Revised Schedule Announcement

As you've all probably noticed over the past few months, our schedule has been a bit fluid. This is partially due to our convention appearances this past summer (we did five shows in about ten weeks), but was also impacted by the structure of the company. We have a small core staff and use literally hundreds of freelance writers, artists, editors, and graphic designers on our array of projects. Inevitably, some people blow their deadlines and things get thrown off schedule. One project impacts another and pretty soon things have gone off the rails.

We are doing what we can to minimize this sort of things by building in extra time to our schedule and giving reliable freelancers more work. We’ve worked hard over the past few months to get caught up and we’re nearly there. Crooks! and Skull & Bones came out at last, Torches & Pitchforks debuted in time for Halloween, and Mindshadows is out this week. With one exception, we should have everything back on track by January. I thought I'd take this opportunity to go over our revised schedule, so you'd have the most up-to-date info on our releases.

The Noble's Handbook just finished printing and will be out in November. Black Sails Over Freeport and the Book of Fiends are entering production now and should come out in December, along with Martial Arts Mayhem. In January we'll release the Psychic's Handbook and the Mutants & Masterminds Annual #1. And as we just announced, Aasimar & Tiefling and the Medieval Player's Handbook will be out in February.

This leads to the one exception: the Nocturnals book. This one falls largely on my shoulders, as I was doing the game design portion. The good news is that Dan is done with new comic story, now 17 pages, and it's awesome. He's also finished all the background material on the world of the Nocs and I think fans are going to love it.

Last week we decided to re-solicit the book for a March release. Dan and I agreed that we don't want to rush the book out and get sloppy. We waited to put out Skull & Bones until it was ready, and I think you'll all agree that S&B delivered. The same will be true with the Nocturnals book. We will put that extra time to good use and you'll see the results this March.

Mutants & Masterminds fans shouldn't worry about the rest of the line. We have separate teams working on the Annual and the book following, so the Nocs book won't affect the game's 2004 schedule.

We hope you stay with us in 2004. We've got a lot of exciting stuff coming up. More on that soon!
